The Final Word: Beat writers discuss Syracuse’s 84-66 loss at No. 15 Notre Dame

Syracuse didn't have much to cheer about on Saturday. Though SU hung around early, it couldn't get a run going or stop the Notre Dame attack.

Syracuse on Saturday afternoon lost its seventh consecutive game away from the Carrier Dome, an 84-66 loss at No. 15 Notre Dame (17-3, 6-1 Atlantic Coast). Sophomore forward Tyler Lydon scored a team-high 24 points, but UND’s senior forward V.J. Beachem scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Fighting Irish in its rout of SU (11-9, 3-4). Syracuse allowed an opposing player to score 30 or more points for the fourth time this year, equaling disaster for an SU team that sits only two games above .500.

Our beat writers Connor Grossman and Matt Schneidman discuss the defeat.
